Eldara Eternal Forge Guide
Echoes, Heat, Golden Echoes — and why the Forge is worth more than a crate.
The Forge that outlasts the reset
Patch 24 shipped the Eternal Forge on 15 August 2026 during Early Access. Patch 25 added the Random Crate Exchange on 25 August 2026. Version 1.0 on 2 September 2026 kept both. Patch 26 on 4 September expanded the post-rebirth journey without changing the Echo mechanics. This page is the complete Forge reference: what each currency does, what the three implements mean, and why sixty-four ranks is the right number to know.
If you arrived here from the rebirth planner, read the rebirth and Forge guide first. If you want the calculator version, open the prestige calculator. Both tools sit on the wiki tools desk.
Three currencies, one reset
Echoes are the primary Forge currency. You earn them by striking the Forge, by Heat, and by passive generation. Higher rebirth count raises the Echo multiplier on every subsequent life. That is the snowball: cycle two rebuilds faster than cycle one even though Echoes reset when you prestige. Echoes buy ranks and, after the rank tree is complete, crates at 5,000,000 each.
Heat is the fire-side fuel. Think of Firemaking and Cremating as Forge logistics. Logs you burn are not just XP acceleration — they are Heat input. If you are ignoring Firemaking because “it feels optional,” the Forge is why that decision costs you time on every subsequent rebirth.
Golden Echoes are the rarer cousin. Spend them on upgrades you are tired of farming manually. A Golden Echo spent on a Memory Crucible upgrade is a permanent-feeling account investment even though the Echoes themselves reset.
The three implements: Hammer, Ember, Crucible
Resonant Hammer — the metal-side tool. Smithing and Crafting characters live here. Upgrade it when your account is a melee or artisan save and you want the Forge to pay toward the plates and weapons you are already making.
Living Ember — the fire-side tool. Firemaking, Cremating, and anything that wants Heat lean here. This is where Firemaking does double work: XP acceleration for every skill and Heat for the Forge. If you run Gathering or Verdant Circle saves, this is your implement.
Memory Crucible — the remember-side tool. Codex-minded, collection-minded, and long-run account upgrades live here. If your save is built around the sixty-eight Steam achievements and the Collection Log, the Crucible is where the Forge pays off.
You do not need to max all three on the first prestige. A Hammer without plates is theatre. An Ember without logs is a cold grate. Pick the implement that matches how you actually idle, not the one that looks most complete.
Sixty-four ranks and what lives in the ladder
The Forge tree offers sixty-four ranks. Skill action-time upgrades sit in this ladder: shaving time off a Mining tick, a Woodcutting swing, a Fletching craft, or a Cooking batch. These are not cosmetic. A faster Mining tick means more ore per idle session. A faster Woodcutting swing means more logs for fires. The ladder pays back across the whole save.
Rank toward the actions you click most. A Thieving rank you never touch is a souvenir. A Cooking speed upgrade on a save that cooks every night is a real quality-of-life gain.
The Random Crate Exchange
After all sixty-four ranks, the Echo Exchange opens. Each crate costs 5,000,000 Echoes. The table is equal across Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Void tiers. Batch sizes are 1, 3, 5, or 10 crates.
That price is a late-save number. If five million Echoes feels abstract, you are not in crate territory yet. Keep buying ranks. Keep buying action-time upgrades. The crate is a sink for the account that has already climbed the ladder.
If a prestige is coming tomorrow and you are sitting on 4.8 million Echoes, wait. The crate will still be there after the reset. Echoes reset; the habit of earning them does not.
Echoes and rebirth: the timing question
Echoes go to zero when you rebirth. The multiplier goes up. That is the trade. The practical question every prestige asks is: “am I closer to a crate, or closer to a +5 refinement on gear I will still wear?”
If the answer is a crate, buy the crate before you prestige. If the answer is a +5 stamp on a set you believe in, prestige in that set and let the multiplier carry the next climb faster.
The rebirth planner has the full checklist. The Forge section of that page is built around exactly this question.
What Patch 26 added to the Forge journey
Patch 26 expanded the post-rebirth journey with new permanent progression options. The Eternal Forge still resets Echoes on prestige. The sixty-four ranks still reset. The Random Crate Exchange at 5,000,000 Echoes still exists. What changed is what you do between resets — new goals that sit on the permanent side of the ledger.
If you are post-first-rebirth, revisit the Forge for those new options. If you are pre-first-rebirth, the Forge still works as documented here; Patch 26 did not rewrite the core mechanics.
Bottom line
Firemaking is Forge food. Logs you burn are Heat. Heat feeds the Ember if that is your implement. Echoes fund the ranks. Ranks fund action-time. After the ranks, crates. Do not rebirth with a full Echo wallet unless you mean to lose it.
The Forge rewards the account that plays consistently more than the account that races to a crate and prestige on night one.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What currencies does the Eternal Forge use?
Echoes (primary), Heat (fire-side fuel), and Golden Echoes (rare upgrades). Echoes buy ranks and crates. Heat comes from Firemaking and Cremating.
What does the Resonant Hammer do?
The metal-side Forge implement. Smithing and Crafting saves lean here. Upgrade it when your account is an artisan or melee save.
What does the Living Ember do?
The fire-side Forge implement. Firemaking and Cremating feed it. If you run Gathering or Verdant Circle saves, this is your implement.
What does the Memory Crucible do?
The memory-side Forge implement. Codex-minded and collection-minded saves lean here. It pays toward long-run account upgrades.
How many Forge ranks are there?
Sixty-four ranks. After completing them, the Random Crate Exchange opens at 5,000,000 Echoes per crate.
Do Echoes reset on rebirth?
Yes. Echoes reset when you prestige. The Echo multiplier goes up with rebirth count, which is why cycle two rebuilds faster. Golden Echoes and rank progress also reset.
