Eldara Hunting Contracts Guide
Accept a contract, kill the listed pack, turn it in — then let auto-contracts take over.
Why hunting is a first-week skill
Hunting in Eldara is not a separate open-world safari. It is a contract board sitting on top of combat. You accept a task, you kill the listed monsters with the style you already parked, and you turn the contract in for Hunting XP, hunting points, and a gold bump. That loop is why this page exists next to the melee-range-magic breakdown instead of being a footnote on the seventeen-skill map.
Version 1.0, which launched on 2 September 2026, still uses that board. There is no multiplayer group finder for contracts. There is no cash shop that sells completions. You buy the game once on Steam, you pick a cheap pack, and you let auto-eat hold the fight while you are in another window. If you have not cooked yet, stop and read the first-hour walkthrough before you take a contract that can actually kill you.
Ashen Legion is the house that likes this loop. Donating combat trophies there can raise hunting-adjacent standing. It can also cut Verdant Circle and Gilded Hammer. Read the three houses before you dump a bank of rat hides into the first tooltip that smiles at you.
How a contract actually runs
Open Hunting. Take a contract. The board tells you which monster and how many. You then fight that monster with Melee, Range, or Magic — the same three gear sets you already keep. When the count is done, you return to the board and complete the contract. XP, points, and gold land. If the bag is full, the completion stalls. Bank first. The idle-loop primer covers bag versus bank and why overnight ticks hate a jammed inventory.
Early contracts are rats and other low common packs. That is not a joke starter. It is the legal fight you can leave running with a cheap weapon and a food stack. Do not open hunting with a mythic. Do not open it with the Sunken Crypt. Those rooms belong on the dungeon and boss walkthrough.
Hunting points buy things on the hunting store. Later unlocks include auto-accepting or auto-farming contracts so the board keeps feeding itself while you idle something else. Treat that store like Smithing treats bars: you earn the currency on the loop, then you spend it on the quality-of-life that makes the loop cheaper. Confirm the live shop. This wiki will not invent a price list that a patch can embarrass.
The Tracker pet, unlocked by mastering Hunting, grants extra contract gold. That is a permanent bonus that survives rebirth. If you are close to Hunting mastery and far from a Forge crate, take the pet. The companion roster and the pet rankings explain why contract gold is a domain, not a one-time chest.
Gold, achievements, and what a starter video actually showed
Hunting is one of the cleanest early gold pipes because the board pays even when the loot table is junk. You still sell hides and bones. You still cook the food that keeps auto-eat honest. You do not skip Firemaking to chase contracts — the global XP accelerator makes every later hunting level cheaper. Pair this page with the gold and market guide when the question is “where does the coin come from,” and with the skill planner when the question is “what do I park tonight.”
A June 2026 starter session on hunting recorded a 200-contract achievement as an early milestone, with a large gold payout plus ranged back-slot loot and a necklace gated behind Defence 65. Treat that as a session log, not a patch note. Open the live achievement panel. If the threshold or the rewards moved after 1.0, the panel wins. Steam lists sixty-eight achievements; hunting-shaped ones sit beside First Blood and Goblin Smasher on the Codex and collections page.
Gilded Hammer’s gold-from-all-sources standing helps hunting payouts too. That is a house bonus, not a hunting unlock. Ashen Legion’s combat and hunting XP standing helps the levels. Do not donate to both in the same night if you cannot replace the items. Reputation cuts are real.
Contracts versus dungeons versus world bosses
A hunting contract is a counted kill list. A dungeon is a multi-stage lair with its own monsters and its own threat ladder. A mythic world boss is a style exam. Mixing those three is how Hardcore graves get written. Hardcore is one life, half XP, half gold. If that is your save, take rat contracts until food and auto-eat are boring. The Hardcore rules are the mode; this page is the board.
Later, dungeons and hunts can re-arm contracts as you clear rooms. That does not make a crypt a substitute for the hunting skill. It means the combat you already parked starts feeding two bars. Keep the style that matches the pack. Skeletons still resist melee. Wraiths still fear fire. Dragons still fall to arrows. The combat loadouts page is where those sentences become a gear set.
Rebirth keeps pets, Codex, collections, and achievements. It does not keep Eternal Forge Echoes. A hunting pet you unlocked before prestige is a coin machine you take into the next cycle. A half-finished 64-rank Forge is not. Check what survives a rebirth before you reset in the middle of a 200-contract push.
A hunting night that respects idle time
- Cook. Auto-eat is the combat UI.
- Park one style. Refine that set. Do not swap melee and range between every contract.
- Take the cheapest legal pack the board will give you.
- Bank whenever the bag looks proud of itself.
- Spend hunting points on the store unlock that removes a click, not on a vanity.
- Light Firemaking if logs exist.
- Stop before a mythic. Mythics are exams; contracts are rent.
Official store, studio site, and Discord remain the places to confirm a shop change. They are collected on the links hub. Patch history for 1.0 and the August Forge work sits on the updates hub.
Hunting is rent. Take the cheap pack, turn it in, and let the Tracker do the talking after mastery. The crypt can wait until the board is boring.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do hunting contracts work in Eldara?
Accept a contract on the Hunting board, kill the listed monsters with your parked combat style, then turn the contract in for XP, points, and gold. Details sit on this page; combat rules sit on the combat styles guide.
What should I hunt first?
Low common packs such as rats, after you have a food stack for auto-eat. Do not start with dungeons or mythic bosses. See the getting started walkthrough if food does not exist yet.
Is hunting a good way to make gold?
Yes. Contracts pay even when loot is junk, and the Tracker pet adds contract gold that survives rebirth. Pair this with the gold guide and the pet roster.
Do hunting points buy auto-contracts?
The hunting store spends points on quality-of-life, including later auto-farming of contracts. Confirm the live shop; this wiki will not freeze a price list.
Does rebirth wipe hunting progress?
Pets, Codex, collections, and achievements stay. Eternal Forge Echoes reset. Read rebirth and the Eternal Forge before you prestige in the middle of a contract push.
