Eldara Skill, Pet, and Build Rankings
Priority lists for idle hours — not a single S-tier gospel.
Eldara: The Forgotten Realm is a released single-player idle RPG on Steam. Rankings on this hub exist to answer a narrow question: where should the next idle block go after version 1.0 shipped on 2 September 2026? They are not a beauty contest and they are not a promise that one skill, one pet, or one weapon wins forever. The live loop is seventeen interlocking skills, seventeen pets, three combat gear sets, and a rebirth layer that keeps some progress while wiping Eternal Forge Echoes.
Use these lists after you have a save running. If you have not even lit a fire yet, start with the day-one walkthrough and the idle window primer. Rankings assume you already know how to park an action, read the Codex, and come back to offline ticks.
How these ranks are built
Every list on this hub scores three things, in this order:
- Time-to-power. Does the choice speed every other skill, or only itself?
- Offline value. Does it keep paying while the client is closed?
- Rebirth carry. Does the bonus survive a prestige, or do you rebuild it from Echoes?
Firemaking wins the first test because it is a global XP accelerator. Pets win the third test because they persist through rebirth. Combat loadouts sit in the middle: three independent gear stories (melee, range, magic) that you refine by +5 per rebirth up to about +50. Gathering and artisan skills feed those stories with ore, logs, food, bones, and crafted parts.
We do not invent a single S-through-F grid for the whole game. A mining pet that looks modest on a boss hunt can be the best unlock on a wood-and-ore account. A melee cape that drops at 0.03% is not a training plan. If a patch moves a percentage, the role usually stays: accelerator, gatherer, artisan, or killer.
The three ranking pages
Open the child pages when you already know which decision you are making.
- Need a training order for the seventeen skills? Read skill training priority. Firemaking stays high from the first log to the last prestige. Combat, gathering, and artisan rows split after that.
- Choosing which companion to chase? Read pet rankings by domain. Seventeen pets map onto the seventeen skills. Named examples include Steelfang the wolf pup, Sharpeye the hawk, Whisper the spectral familiar, and Sprout the seedling. Exact numeric bonuses can move with patches; the page ranks roles, not fake DPS.
- Parking a hunt or a mythic? Read melee, range, and magic loadouts. Eldara gives you three gear sets, house synergy with the Ashen Legion, Verdant Circle, and Gilded Hammer, and refinement that only matters if you keep the same style across rebirths.
Those three pages interlink on purpose. A skill rank without a pet rank is half a plan. A pet rank without a loadout is a Codex sticker. A loadout without Firemaking is a slow fight.
How rankings sit next to the rest of the wiki
This hub does not replace tutorials. Pair it with:
- The skills map when you need recipes, inputs, and which action feeds which.
- The combat styles explainer when you need auto-eat, defence, and hitpoints rather than a tier letter.
- The static skill planner when you want early / mid / late tables you can copy, not a live calculator.
- The rebirth reset planner when you are about to throw away Forge ranks for another +5 on a weapon.
- The factions overview if your next click is a donation rather than a skill.
Dungeons and mythic hunts have their own pages. Rankings will tell you which style to bring. They will not list boss hit points, because those numbers are not published here and they would rot on the first hotfix.
What a “high” rank actually means
High means you should keep the action warm even when it is not the skill you are starring in the UI. Firemaking is the clearest case: lighting fires multiplies XP across the board, so a “high” rank is a standing order, not a one-time unlock.
Mid means the skill or pet is excellent inside its domain and should be scheduled, not ignored. Smithing, Fletching, and Crafting are mid on a combat account and high on a Gilded Hammer account. Thieving and Hunting are mid until you need their pet or a dungeon input.
Situational means the rank flips with your house, your next rebirth, or a specific drop. The Abyssal Cape from the Abyssal Hornfiend is a legendary melee back piece at a 0.03% drop. That is a trophy hunt, not a reason to park melee for a month if your range set is already refined.
Hardcore mode is a separate overlay: one life, half XP, half gold. Rankings still apply, but mistakes cost the save. Read the hardcore rules before you treat an S-tier chase as mandatory.
How to use this hub in a session
- Pick the bottleneck (XP, food, bars, arrows, or a pet).
- Open the matching child page, not all three.
- Park one action. Eldara is idle; splitting attention across three styles overnight is how accounts stall.
- After a rebirth, re-read the skill list first. Pets you already own still pay. Forge Echoes do not.
The game is a one-time Steam purchase with offline progress, Steam Cloud, sixty-eight achievements, and no microtransactions. Rankings that tell you to spend money on power would be lying. Rankings that tell you to ignore Firemaking would also be lying.
Use the three ranking pages as a weekly checklist: train Firemaking before you chase a pet, match a loadout before you park a hunt, and only then spend a rebirth. Rankings are a map, not a finish line for Eldara’s 1.0 idle climb.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is there one S-tier skill in Eldara?
No. Firemaking is the highest *priority* because it accelerates global XP, but combat, gathering, and artisan skills still have to be trained for pets, gear, and dungeons. Start with skill training priority.
Do these ranks assume Early Access?
No. Version 1.0 launched on 2 September 2026. Early Access is history, summarised on the Early Access recap. Rankings describe the live 1.0 systems.
Should I rank pets by raw bonus numbers?
Not on this wiki. Patch notes can move percentages. Rank companions by domain — combat, gathering, artisan — on the pet value list, and treat named examples such as Steelfang as role illustrations.
Where do combat loadouts fit?
Melee, range, and magic each have their own gear set and a matching mythic world boss. Build that story on the combat loadout rankings and refine it across rebirths instead of mixing styles overnight.
Do rankings change after a rebirth?
Skill order stays similar because Firemaking still accelerates XP. Pets you already unlocked keep paying. Eternal Forge Echoes and Forge upgrades reset, so the rebirth planner matters more than a new letter grade.
